  1. 2 tbsp olive oil
  2. 1.25kg beef chuck steak, excess fat trimmed, cut into 3cm chunks
  3. 1 brown onion, coarsely chopped
  4. 2 carrots, peeled, coarsely chopped
  5. 2 celery sticks, sliced
  6. 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  7. 375ml (11/2 cups) Massel Beef Style Liquid Stock
  8. 400g can diced tomatoes
  9. 15g chopped dried porcini mushrooms
  10. 2 fresh or dried bay leaves
  11. 500g packet fresh or dried gnocchi
  12. Chopped fresh continental parsley leaves, to serve
  13. Finely grated parmesan, to serve

The instruction how to make Slow cooker Italian beef with gnocchi recipe

  1. Heat 1 tbs oil in a large non-stick frying pan over medium-high heat. Cook the beef in 2-3 batches, turning occasionally, for 3 minutes or until browned. Transfer to a plate.
  2. Reduce the heat to medium. Heat the remaining oil and cook the onion, carrot and celery, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes or until soft and light golden. Stir in the garlic and cook for 1 minute. Transfer the beef and vegetables to a slow cooker.
  3. Stir in the beef stock, tomatoes, porcini and bay leaves. Cover and cook on Low for 7 hours.
  4. Quickly stir in the gnocchi and cover again. Cook for another hour. Sprinkle with parsley and parmesan to serve.
